This software was designed to help convert drawings, diagrams, and other art work into AutoCAD DWG files. It includes everything you need to create AutoCAD DWG drawings of any complexity, including basic lines and arcs, entities, dimensions (including datums), text titles (including styles), annotations (including labels), data bands on the drawing sheet, multi-layered linework showing nested depth views or views of hidden layers on the drawing sheet. When trying to learn something new there are different ways people can approach it. One way is taking a class at school or college where they can get all of their information in one place and dive more deeply into certain subjects. Another way is to invest a lot of time and effort, a lot of study and trial and error, to get good at it. This is what I did with the AutoCAD 2012 specifications. I purchased a copy of AutoCAD Design Premium Edition 2012 from Autodesk.com, because I noticed that they included AutoCAD 2013 in the same price range as AutoCAD Design Premium Edition 2012. The only difference I could see was that the CD does not include AutoCAD Conceptual 2013 or AutoCAD Civil 2D 2013. Plus this version even has the Powerpoint Viewer and Excel View Add-on so it's great for those who need to do some spreadsheets and presentations as well. I opened the CD and it was extremely easy and straight forward to install. The instructions were clear and straightforward and even had a link to a website that I could download the files from if I wanted. I then executed the software and turned on my computer. Installation takes about one minute on most computers with Windows 7 64bit on them. If you're getting ready to take your first drawing you can get started right away with the example files already set up for you. After installation I started to take the Autodesk Design Premium Edition 2012 for a test drive and it's very impressive. Nice job Autodesk! I'm glad they still have the Practice Files with the 2012 Design Premium edition so you can get used to all of the new features and functions. The Properties panel is very easy and intuitive, allowing you to quickly change options and see what choices you have. There's a lot of features in Autodesk Design Premium Edition 2012 that I had no idea existed. The features I really liked were the new drawing layers. For example, if I had a big drawing that included a lot of linework and dimension, then I would try to crop or blend those line layers out so they wouldn't become very busy. If the dimensions were area based then I would just fill in all of the area with a red line and not worry too much about removing those lines. The possibilities are endless with these new layer options. There is now an awesome features called "Views from Contact" where you can switch from one view to another as needed for seeing different areas of your drawing. eccc085e13
